JACQUES MURAY
A Plural Inspiration
My work is influenced by various fields such as German expressionism, cinema, music, fashion, architecture, and nature. Each of these elements inspires my creations, whether through contrasting colors or plays of light and shadow. These influences are reflected in my photos with their unusual framing, sometimes deliberate, sometimes accidental.
Drawing and photography, a play on boundaries
Between photographs and drawings, there is a fine line that has always fascinated me. Drawings complement my photographic universe, bringing to life concepts more complex than photography alone could convey. Drawing has always been a part of me, giving way to my imagination and other worlds, sometimes less obvious to address in photography.
An Artistic and Spontaneous Journey
A graduate of the Toulouse School of Fine Arts and working as an interior designer, I made the choice to transition to photography and drawing 5 years ago. I approach photography spontaneously, with just a simple mobile phone, without retouching or sophisticated software, in order to preserve the urgency and spontaneity of the moment.
Intrigue and provoke thought
The goal is to intrigue the viewer, to make them wonder about what they see: is it a photograph or a drawing? My world is a self-portrait, a reflection of my desires, my references, and my vision of the world.
